We obtain the CETS (European Charter for Sustainable Tourism) certification

Els Pirates del Cap de Creus has received the CETS (European Charter for Sustainable Tourism) certification in recognition of our commitment to the environmental, cultural, and economic sustainability of the Cap de Creus Natural Park territory. This certification, awarded by the Europarc Federation, represents a quality endorsement that positions us as a benchmark in the promotion of active, conscious, and respectful tourism towards the natural environment.

What is CETS and why is it relevant for Cap de Creus?

The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism is a strategic tool that helps manage tourism within protected natural areas like the Cap de Creus Natural Park, through a participatory process involving public administrations, private companies, and the local community. Its objective is to ensure that tourism development is compatible with the conservation of natural and cultural heritage, while also fostering local economic development.

Adhering to the CETS means that we have passed a rigorous validation process, where we have demonstrated that our activities meet the criteria of sustainability, responsibility, and local collaboration.

The concrete actions of Pirates del Cap de Creus for sustainable tourism

Our project has established itself as an alternative, inclusive, and territorially-rooted tourism proposal that combines environmental education, cultural heritage, and immersive experience. Some of our most notable initiatives within the CETS framework are:

1. Guided experiences with educational and cultural value

We organize guided thematic routes that highlight the seafaring history, biodiversity, and ethnographic elements of Cap de Creus. Our activities foster an emotional connection with the territory, generating a deep environmental awareness.

2. Minimization of ecological impact

All our outings and events are organized following criteria of minimal environmental impact. We use reusable materials, promote soft mobility (on foot, by bike, or kayak), and work to reduce waste and emissions.

3. Cooperation with local entities

We collaborate with local producers, environmental organizations, and educational centers to promote a circular economy that positively benefits the community. This network of partnerships allows us to multiply the positive impact of our actions.

4. Transparent and committed communication

We strive for honest, inclusive, and transformative communication. We clearly explain the values that guide us, the measures we adopt, and the results we achieve. This transparency is key to building trust among visitors, allies, and institutions.

Its calm and deep waters make it an excellent place for diving and for discovering marine life in its purest state. The cove is surrounded by geological formations that seem to come out of a fairytale.

Tangible benefits of the CETS certification for Pirates del Cap de Creus

The CETS is not just a label, but an operational framework that helps us to constantly improve. The main benefits of this certification for our project include:

  • Joint promotion with the Cap de Creus Natural Park, which places us within the park’s outreach and territorial projection actions.
  • Official European recognition that reinforces our credibility and visibility.
  • Access to collaboration and exchange networks with other European entities working on sustainability.
  • Continuous improvement of our internal processes, thanks to the self-assessment and monitoring required by the CETS.
  • Increase in perceived value by visitors, who are looking for tourism options with real added value.

Pirates del Cap de Creus: a commitment to tourism with a soul

Since our beginning, we have worked with the conviction that tourism can be a tool for social and ecological transformation. The CETS certification helps us to consolidate this narrative, but above all, it drives us to continue learning and improving. We believe in tourism that:

  • Promotes cultural authenticity and collective memory.
  • Respects the rhythms and fragilities of the territory.
  • Fosters active citizen participation.
  • Educates in values of respect and shared responsibility.

A future bet rooted in the present

The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism sets a clear path for us: to cooperate, innovate, and care. We do not understand tourism as an isolated activity, but as an integrated system within the life of the territory. Therefore, we work to:

  • Create new interpretive itineraries, connected to local history.
  • Promote the training and qualification of our teams in environmental and cultural subjects.
  • Drive new alliances with other sustainable entities in the territory.
  • Monitor and measure the impact of all our actions to ensure their effectiveness and constant improvement.

Cap de Creus as a privileged setting for responsible tourism

The Cap de Creus Natural Park is a unique place in the world for its biological, geological, and cultural richness. From the spectacular cliffs to the coastal paths, every corner hides stories and species that must be preserved. We feel co-responsible for the future of this place, and that is why we work hand-in-hand with the park to ensure that tourism activity is not a threat, but an ally for conservation.

Pirates del Cap de Creus: a company with good knowledge of the Park

Els Pirates del Cap de Creus are part of the group of companies with a good knowledge of the Cap de Creus Natural Park, a distinction that recognizes the specific training and deep knowledge of the territory on the part of our teams.

We work with professionals who have completed the “Good Park Connoisseur Course”, a training endorsed by the park itself and designed to ensure that the tourism agents operating there:

  • Master the natural, cultural, and landscape values of Cap de Creus.
  • Know the park’s protection and public use regulations, as well as the environmental sustainability criteria that apply.
  • Are capable of transmitting, with rigor and passion, the uniqueness of the territory to visitors.
  • Promote a respectful and conscious attitude among the public, aligned with conservation and environmental education objectives.

This training allows us to offer authentic, educational, and responsible experiences, contributing to better tourism management and a healthier relationship between people and the landscape. Being a company with a good knowledge of the Park reinforces our commitment to the professionalism, quality, and coherence of our project.

We are proud to be part of this network of initiatives that share a respectful, profound, and cherished view of the Cap de Creus Natural Park.
